Unreal Media Server is a software streaming server for Windows operating systems, offering rich choice of live and on demand streaming functionality.
The server supports live media sources and recorded media files. File and live stream names can be in any language, as Unreal Media Server is a fully Unicode system.
Unreal Media Server supports variety of streaming protocols allowing playing with Flash player, Silverlight, Windows Media Player and Unreal Streaming Media Player on Windows, MAC, Linux and Mobile devices.
The native Unreal Media Server's streaming protocol is our proprietary, DirectShow-based, codec-independent UMS protocol. It can be realized in Unicast mode via TCP, RTP(UDP), HTTP(S) transport, and in Multicast mode via RTP(UDP) transport, and played by Unreal Streaming Media Player.
File formats include all the types supported by Microsoft DirectX, namely:
AVI, MPEG-1 (VCD), MPEG-2 (SVCD, DVD), MPEG-4, MPA, WMV, WMA, ASF, MP3, QuickTime.
Other file formats and compression types are supported with additional installation of appropriate codecs, such as MP4, MKV, DivX, AAC, AC3, H264 etc.
